Matthew Hay Brown is a Washington correspondent for The Baltimore Sun and a lecturer in media studies at the Catholic University of America.

In 20 years as a journalist, Brown has reported in English and Spanish from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. He has written for The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Christian Science Monitor and other newspapers.

As a staff writer at The Hartford Courant, Brown was a member of the team that won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Reporting for coverage of a workplace shooting at the Connecticut Lottery Corp.

He holds a master's degree with honors from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
